Steve Bachmayer is a service designer and registered nurse whose work sits at the intersection of clinical reality and systems thinking. He brings a rare combination to complex design challenges: the lived experience of delivering care, and the strategic tools to redesign how it works.

His career has spanned Sydney, London, New York, and Amsterdam, across health, aged care, digital products, finance, and social impact. At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, he established and led an innovation hub focused on transforming the cancer care continuum, from clinical trials and logistics through to primary care and patient finances. This included developing AI-assisted tools for clinical decision-making, designed in collaboration with patients.

Back in Australia, Steve has led service design engagements for clients in aged care, mental health, data privacy, and custodial health, working at the level of strategy, research, and end-state delivery. He is currently a Senior Service Designer at Uniting NSW.ACT, where his clinical registration remains an active and practical part of how he works.

He is drawn to problems where systems thinking creates positive human experiences and reduces disparity.
