experience design
Our experiences are the most rich and personal metric for receiving and interacting the world around us. They form the basis for all memories and inform our behaviours.
Nursing
My time as a nurse provided me with insight into human experience, particularly in the context of a care giving/receiving relationship. Illness and healthcare systems can be disarming, often leaving patients without confused and vulnerable. To combat this, I developed principle solutions involving nurse awareness regarding the layout of hospital rooms, placing all necessities in reach of patients. The use of particular language and questions would establish a space in which patients felt agency in making decisions regarding their own care.
This gave me an understanding of the broader healthcare system regarding the range of disciplines involved as well as knowledge regarding the instruments, layouts and processes of hospitals and healthcare spaces.
train tracks
In 2011 a friend and I founded a roaming guerilla musical experiences on Sydney's public transport system. These events were called Train Tracks, intended as a means to reimagine ordinary public spaces whilst giving Sydney bands a new gig space amidst a dwindling live music scene. A range of music, poetry, comedy, theatre and visual art was spread across the city via trains, ferries and buses, inhabiting anywhere from train carriages and platforms to nearby parks and beaches. Each event was curated to provide designed experiences in organic circumstances, creating a space in which anyone could get involved and share in a unique experience.
